KITSAP COUNTY, Wash. – Dive teams from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office recovered the body of a 20-year-old man who drowned in Island Lake.
Deputies say they received a report that a20-year-oldswimmer drowned in Island Lake Park just after 10 p.m. Monday.
Two of the man s friends were on the dock when they saw him struggling. They swam out to try and help him, but he had gone under and they couldn’t find him.
Words can’t describe it, said Darien Hastings. I just saw my friend die.
Dive teams combed the area until about 3 a.m.. before calling off the search due to dangerous conditions and poor visibility.
Divers resumed the search early Tuesday and found the man’s body.
