Hsa Tentative Agreement

The current collective agreement does not treat all occupational classifications in the same way. For example, recognition of educational credentials and advanced practices is lacking. The interim agreement would address these inequalities and apply a consistent justification for the recognition of leadership and supervision in all categories of professions. The provisional agreement was signed by both parties on 8 November 2018 and must be ratified by HSPBA members to enter into force. The Nurses Bargaining Association entered into an interim agreement with heABC on November 25, 2018. The duration of the agreement is from April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2022. HSA was represented at the bargaining table by Alyson Warner, a negotiator, and Nicole McIntosh, a member representative, an NPR from St. Paul`s Hospital. They say they had the opportunity to provide information and that relations were cordial until the last day of the trial, when the NBA`s chief negotiator asked the negotiating committee to accept a provisional agreement without sharing the details of the provisional agreement. Karen Vasylenko, Chair of HSAS, said: “Despite the uncertainties and challenges in health care at that time, the parties worked together to reach this interim agreement to strengthen safety for the future of our members and for the care of residents of our province.” The preliminary agreement focuses on key priorities and protects nurses` ability to ensure safe and quality patient care. HSA has received confirmation from the Ministry of Health that temporary compensation for the pandemic was paid on 9 October 2020 will be paid to the staff of the Public Health Authority.

“During two and a half months of negotiations, both union committees and employer bargaining committees have focused on negotiating collective agreement solutions that tackle years of system erosion,” HSA president Val Avery said at a tentative briefing for HSA stewards in December. . . .
